I've got several musical and month duration clocks running on it. 

Unlike natural gut I've never had this break on me in over 30 years of using as a professional restorer - the clock always gives up first!!

I would not trust phosphor bronze as it can fail/break unexpectedly (unusual shear qualities) and also wears parts away, namely barrel grooves and wheels if in contact - it just works like a rotary file, always in contact.
