This is for an original full ticket from December 19 1971 at the Ellis Memorial Auditorium in Memphis Tennessee when the band Cactus would perform. For music aficionados, Cactus was one of the first “super groups” in music. Ex-Vanilla Fudge members Tim Bogart and Carmine Appice were to start a band with Jeff Beck on guitar and Rod Stewart on vocals, but when Beck suffered a fractured skull in a December 1969 car accident and Rod Stewart joined Faces, the plans were put on hold. In early 1970 Bogart and Appice added guitarist Jim McCarty from Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels and Buddy Miles Express along with singer Rusty Day from the Amboy Dukes and the band Cactus was born. Atlantic Records would dub the band “The American Led Zeppelin” and the combinations of the members musical backgrounds labeled the band as hard rock, blues rock and heavy metal. The band would start out opening for acts such as Jimi Hendrix and Jethro Tull before becoming headliners themselves. The band would put out 3 albums and disband in 1972 so Tim Bogart and Carmine Appice could finally unite with Jeff Beck to form Beck Bogart and Appice. An extremely rare ticket from an extremely rare band who would only be around for a short 2 year period.
