From John Stanley Antique Tools -

We are pleased to offer this wooden wash stick recently picked in Downeast Coastal Maine.
From the early 1900's is this wonderful primitive hand carved wooden wash stick.  No two wash sticks are alike which makes this a great item to specialize in collecting.  Made from hardwood this has a cylindrical shaped hand hold on the end of the octagonal shaped handle which transitions to a round center section, transitioning back to an octagonal shape to the end of the fork, ending with a hand carved octagonal shape finial on the end of each tine.  Measures 28" long x 3 3/4" wide across the fork.  As shown one side is a lighter color than the other.  This more than likely hung unused in a shed for many years.  The side of the wash stick that was exposed to the light and air has taken on a nice rich dark patina.  This is an honest, original wash stick.  A great decorator item or for your collection of wash sticks.  Would look great hanging in the laundry room.

This isn't just a wooden forked stick, this is an AWESOME piece of Americana folk art.
