THROUGH AMERICA; or, Nine Months in the United States.

London: Sampson Low, Marston, Searle, & Rivington, 1881. 1st Edition. Hardcover. 424p; 30p catalogue in back.

A dark red cloth hardcover book in acceptable condition. The corners are heavily worn, and the spine sloth is starting to split. The spine is very worn-looking, with several vertical creases, and there are air bubbles forming under the cloth on the front cover. Old ink signature on half-title page, which has the top corner torn off. Foxing throughout, and binding shaky. A heavily worn but readable copy. Item #177594

A scarce travel memoir of an Englishman visiting the United States. Illustrated with lots of black and white engravings, full-page and inset.
