Herman Schalow 1852-1925 was a German ornithologist.  This is the original publication of his Die Vogel der Arktis, title page and pages 81-288, as part of the Fauna Arctica.  It is housed in a heavy folder that may be original.  This is his presentation copy to the Smithsonian Institution, deaccessioned from the Smithsonian Library.  There is toning and chipping, and small cuts.  There are no illustrations.  The language is German.  This material is rather disbound and is part of a larger series.
