Antique Limoges Hand Painted Porcelain Cup; Up for sale is the elegantly made Limoges porcelain cup with hand painted design, dated late 19^th, early 20^th century.

The cup has a wider and scalloped rim, the lower body of which is slightly tapered but further forms a lotus blossom-like base with totally 8 petals in green color. Notably, each petal is linked to its upper scalloped rim to form a ridge, and some pits are designed to be present under the rim. The cup is painted with flowers in either vibrant or golden color. A medallion encircled by gold gilt decoration depicted some houses with tapered roofs. The handle is unusual, as its lower part is pointed to the right side. The cup is gold gilt decorated, especially on the rim and handle. The lotus base is also entirely decorated with golden dots. There is a hallmark on the bottom showing under glaze a flag on a land together with “Limoges, France” in green color.

Limoges porcelain and its artistry is world-renowned. Beginning in the late 18^th century, Limoges is not referring to a particular manufacturer. As hard-paste porcelain, it is produced by factories in and around the city of Limoges, France. Hard-paste porcelain is a ceramic material originally made by kaolin and petuntse as ingredients and fired at very high temperature, usually around 1400 °C.

Measures: 2 ¼” rim diameter x 2 ½” high x 1 3/8” base diameter. Condition: Very good and clean, with no chips, cracks or any damages.
