The Kahtoola Traction System was developed by hand in a small family workspace called “The Shop” in 1999 and set the direction of our company to develop outdoor products that matter. The KTS was the result of founder and owner Danny Giovale wanting to improve safety for snowy alpine approaches based on his personal experience climbing, and desire to create a product that would get people where they want to go and add a new level of security and performance to lightweight flexible footwear.

TPU Traction Matrix An industry-first TPU Traction Matrix is extremely durable and more abrasion resistant than steel.	Reinforced Eyelets Patented eyelet design prevents tearing at each connection point, allowing the elastomer band to be lighter and stronger.	Elastomer Harness Elastomer bands have a low profile and are ergonomically shaped for a secure fit that remains stretchy in cold temperatures, down to -22°F (-30°C).
