The Welsh Dragon symbol is said to have first been used by Welsh kings after the Roman's occupational withdrawal around the early Fifth Century A.D.  The Welsh Dragon first shows up in the historical written record as representing Wales in 829 A.D. and it's current form was adopted in 1959.  It has claimed the title of longest national flag in existence.
