Autographed 4” x 6” photograph of the German, later Italian composer conducting a pianissimo.  This is not a half tone photograph.

 Henze (1926-2012) was bon in Germany and experienced life at an early age of the child of a Nazi fanatic.  Gay, he left Germany for Italy in 1953, a country where he felt he could live in peace and deal with the politics.  As a composer, Henze wrote in a variety of modernist idioms, not beholden to any specific school. Prolific in his output, he wrote 10 symphonies, 40 operas and other works for the stage, 14 ballets, a massive number of works for large orchestra and chamber orchestra, Choral, song, chamber and mixed ensemble and solo works for a variety of instruments. When one looks at the prodigious amount of work he accomplished in 86 years, one wonders if he had time for outside interests and even time with friends.  Amazingly he did, just watch some of the videos on YouTube!
