Joseph Heine – World Renowned Violinist – Original 1880's Poster – Never located until now.

Who was Joseph Heine?

Joseph Heine was born in 1840 in London, England. Was born blind at birth. He began at four playing the piano. A handful of years later, Heine began his studies with a Professor Stanton who was a court violinist. By sixteen Heine was being placed into advancements that lead him to his status of a concert violinist. He married and had two daughters who were included in the concerts as a part of the performance. In 1866, a review in the New Zealand Auckland Daily Southern Cross newspaper included a brief comment that Heine and his family would be performing a series of concerts. Also mentioned in the article that Heine and his family had performed before Queen Victoria and the late Prince Consort in command performances at Windsor Palace. Heine and his family toured Australia, New Zealand, South America, Jamaica, and the United States. And they performed their concerts in the United States. In 1887, Heine and his family performed for The Ladies of the Christian church in Marion, Kansas. In 1892, His work included Haydn, Donizetti, Paderewski, Chopin, and others. He performed for groups and numerous concert halls. The well-known comic monologuist and showman Walter Wallack brought Professor Joseph Heine, a blind violinist and composer, accompanied by his wife, Mme. Ada Heine, a pianist, and Miss Evaline Heine, soprano and violinist performed at the Theatre Royal in Jamaica in 1893. While preparing for a concert in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, Joseph Heine had a ‘stroke of apoplexy’ on April 30, 1895.

The poster is an original (and very possibly the only one) poster created as a stone lithograph in the 1880's. The poster has been professionally restored, it is linen backed, and is ready for framing. I located a few articles on Heine shown here in the listing. The poster would be considered a half sheet poster (Approximately 20" x 30").
