Antique Alvin Silver Overlay Cut Glass Perfume Bottle; Up for sale is the Victorian style antique cut glass perfume bottle with silver overlay in floral motifs, dated late 19^th, early 20^th century.

The cut glass bottle is in a bulbous shape with a stopper. The overlay silver in pierced work on the bottle is engraved at the lower edge with “999/1000, Fine”, “21, Patented” and the Alvin hallmark. The stopper has a ball like handle. A calligraphy monogram is found to the front.

Alvin Silver started its business in New Jersey in 1886 to manufacture sterling silver flatware including a patented process to coat silver on metallic and non-metallic surfaces. The company was later moved to Long Island, NY in 1895, and changed its name to Alvin Silver Co. in 1919. However, Alvin passed away in 1928 by its buyout by Gorham.

Measures: Dimensions, 4 ½” high (with stopper) (the stopper itself, 2” high) x 2 ¾” wide (across widest parts) x 1 5/8” (base diameter); Weight, 7.6 oz (215 grams). Condition: Very good and clean, with no chips, cracks or any damages to report.
