The sleepers in the photo are wet, most likely because of rain. They are not varnished with oil. Their uniqueness lies in the fact that they have the brown and black spots. You can cover them with transparent impregnat if you like it.

It is not french oak, it is hardwood. L. Oak in the title, it means like oak. That is, the tree has appearance, hardness, type and application like oak, but it is a different variety.
