🔬 ADHESIVE SCIENCE: Visco-Elasticity
3M™ VHB™ is NOT a standard pressure-sensitive tape. It is a Visco-elastic foam that flows into the surface to create a permanent bond.
• The "Not Sticky" Myth: VHB may feel dry to the touch. This is normal! Bond strength is only activated by Pressure and Time.
• The 72H Rule: Maximum structural strength is achieved 72 hours after application as the adhesive "wets out" the substrate.
• Primer 94 Required: For LSE (Low Surface Energy) surfaces like Polypropylene, Polyethylene, or Powder-Coating, you MUST use 3M™ Primer 94.
• Cold Weather Warning: Do not apply if surface temperature is below 50°F (10°C). Ideal range is 70°F - 100°F.
• Compatibility: Not for use on silicone, rubber, or soft PVC.
1. CLEAN: Use 50:50 Isopropyl Alcohol. Surface must be free of wax, oil, and dust.
2. APPLY: Position tape carefully. Avoid touching the adhesive to prevent contamination.
3. PRESSURE (CRITICAL): Use a roller to apply firm pressure (15 PSI). Ensure NO air bubbles are trapped.
4. DWELL TIME: Allow 72 hours for the bond to reach maximum structural strength.
