This copy the much more scarce first state with (i) illustrated endpapers and (ii) the date of 1910 to the title page in Roman numerals. (Later issues in the same format lacked either the date to the title page and/or the illustrated endpapers.)

 

 

 

 

 

Cloth in very good condition with some light soiling. Some softening to corners. Gilt to front and spine very bright and attractive. Externals very good+ to near fine -.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Binding solid. Very light age spots to first two pages; a scattered spot very infrequently; otherwise text block clean and bright with little sign of use. Internals very good + or better. A very attractive copy of the massive elusive volume.
