Kenneth Grahame. The Wind in The Willows. Illustrated by Arthur Rackham. 1940. First Thus. [First printing with Rackham illustrations was limited to 1500 copies published by Limited Editions Club in 1940. It was a large 4to with the 16 color plates mounted. The Heritage edition was subsequently published in cooperation with the Limited Edition Club and included 14 line drawings (at title, half-title, and each chapter head) not included in the Limited Edition printing.] Blue linen with Mrs. Toad stamped in yellow to front. Red buckram to spine. 12 color plates. All edges tinted red. 8to.

 

 

Blue cloth boards have excellent color. Front board not scratched or faded. Red to spine bright and fresh. Exterior fine. No previous owner's marks. Interior clean and very attractive. Unread and unused. Fine. A very attractive copy in excellent condition.

 

 

The dust jacket has excellent color to front, spine and rear. Small nick to top edge. Near fine.

 

 

The slipcase has good color to front, rear and spine. Top edge cracked on one side, but holding.

 

Included with the book and slipcase is the original Heritage Club magazine that accompanied the original issue. It contains a brief account of The Wind in The Willows, Kenneth Grahame, and Arthur Rackham.
