I apprenticed for 14 years, with a man who was a master craftsman. The free form wire designs are inspired by what I learned from him.
I have to say that free form wire bending is one of my favorite things to do. I love how the metal moves, and to feel where it is from.
These Sterling Charm Holders are simple and elegant enough to wear alone, or to add a few of your favorite charms...they will easily hold up to 5 charms. You simply hook the charm onto the centre of the spiral, and swirl the charm into place.
The first one I made was for myself, about 20 years ago, as a place to put my rings while I was working making jewelry and stained glass work. But then the idea caught on, and a few other artisans I worked with wanted one...and I have been making them ever since.
I do make multiples of these, but each one is hand bent, and no two are alike. I do not use jigs.
I make them with .040 .925 Sterling dead soft wire, which I hand stretch, cut, free form bend, and then hammer. You can see the hammer marks on all of my free form jewelry, I angle the hammer on purpose to let them come out. When the light plays over them, they will shimmer and reflect the colours around you.
