N-Acetyl Glucosamine (NAG) is a monosaccharide derivative of glucose, which is the chemical combination of glucosamine and acetic acid. It is a very popular skincare ingredient due to its wide range of uses. Glucosamine is one of the primary components of joint tissue and NAG is a more stable form of glucosamine. NAG is commonly used in skin conditioning and hydrating products, skin lighteners/brighteners, anti-aging, and exfoliating products.
N-Acetyl Glucosamine is soluble in water and should be used at a 1-10% final concentration rate in your formulations. This is intended for use in skincare formulations only and should not be directly applied to skin, consumed, or used internally any other way.
