316 Stainless Steel Flue Liner Kit 2 – 6 Inch 150mm

Model: 316/316 Liner Kit 2 – 6 Inch

Install a flexible chimney liner using a simple chimney-pot termination with the 316 Stainless Steel Flue Liner Kit 2 in 150mm. This complete kit combines your selected continuous length of 316/316 flexible liner with a terracotta pot hanger and the main components required for installation.

Both liner skins use corrosion-resistant 316L-grade stainless steel. In addition, its flexible, double-skinned construction makes the liner suitable for relining an existing masonry chimney.

The liner suits compatible appliances burning seasoned dry wood, gas, oil and cured dry peat. Always check the appliance manufacturer’s instructions and current Building Regulations before choosing the liner grade and diameter.

Important: The flexible flue liner is cut to your selected length. Therefore, please check the required diameter and length before ordering. Once cut, the liner cannot be returned unless it is faulty.

What Is Included in Flue Liner Kit 2?

Kit 2 uses a terracotta pot hanger at the top of the chimney instead of a separate top plate, top clamp and rain cap. However, chimney designs vary. Therefore, ask your installer to confirm that this termination method suits your chimney pot and property.

Suitable Fuels

Always use a fuel permitted by the appliance manufacturer. In addition, avoid wet or unseasoned wood because it can create more soot, tar and corrosive condensate.

If you plan to burn smokeless mineral fuel regularly, consider upgrading to a 904/904 stainless-steel flue liner kit. The higher-grade steel provides greater resistance to corrosive combustion deposits.

Is a 150mm Flue Liner Suitable for My Stove?

A 150mm liner is commonly used with wood-burning, multifuel and open-fire installations. However, the correct diameter depends on the appliance, fireplace opening and complete chimney design.

Therefore, always check the appliance manufacturer’s instructions, current Building Regulations and HETAS guidance before ordering.

Never reduce the flue below the size permitted by the appliance manufacturer. A competent installer should also confirm that the 150mm liner can pass through the complete masonry chimney.

How Does the Terracotta Pot Hanger Work?

The supplied terracotta pot hanger fits onto a compatible chimney pot at the top of the stack. It provides the upper termination for the flexible liner while helping protect the chimney opening.

This method can create a neat termination without removing a suitable existing chimney pot. However, the pot must be secure, undamaged and compatible with the hanger.

The exact fitting method will depend on the chimney pot, liner and surrounding stack. Therefore, a competent installer must inspect the chimney and confirm compatibility before installation.

How Does Kit 2 Connect to the Stove Pipe?

At the bottom of the chimney, the equal adaptor connects a compatible vitreous-enamel stove pipe to the flexible flue liner. The adaptor should match the 150mm liner and connecting pipe.

The supplied chimney identification plate records important details about the finished installation. It should be completed accurately and securely fixed in a suitable position inside the property.

316L Flue Liner Construction

The smooth inner skin uses 0.12mm 316L-grade stainless steel. Meanwhile, the flexible outer skin also uses 0.12mm 316L-grade stainless steel.

The manufacturer forms the liner from a single strip of stainless steel. The strip bends through 180 degrees, while the seam folds across four planes to create a Quattrolock seal.

As a result, the liner combines a smooth internal flue route with a strong and flexible outer structure.

Before Installation

Flue Liner Installation Guidance

A suitably competent installer should fit the liner from the top of the chimney. The directional arrows printed on the liner must point upwards in the direction of the flue gases.

  1. First, sweep and inspect the existing masonry chimney.
  2. Next, confirm that the liner can pass through the complete chimney route.
  3. Inspect the chimney pot and confirm that it suits the supplied pot hanger.
  4. Secure a suitable rope to the included nose cone.
  5. Attach the nose cone securely to the bottom end of the liner.
  6. Check that the arrows point away from the nose cone and towards the chimney top.
  7. Carefully feed the liner down from the top of the chimney.
  8. At the same time, a second person should guide the rope from below.
  9. Avoid sharply pulling, crushing or twisting the liner.
  10. Remove the nose cone when the liner reaches the correct position.
  11. Fit and secure the terracotta pot hanger at the chimney top.
  12. Complete the lower connection using the supplied equal adaptor.
  13. Finally, complete and securely fit the chimney identification plate.

Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and current Building Regulations. Where appropriate, use a HETAS-registered installer. A suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer must complete any gas installation.

Manufacturer’s Lifetime Warranty

The 316/316 flexible flue liner carries a manufacturer’s lifetime warranty, subject to registration and the manufacturer’s terms and conditions.

The lifetime warranty applies to the flexible flue liner. Individual kit components may have different warranty terms. Correct installation, approved components, suitable fuel and regular maintenance may also affect the warranty.

Complete the MI Flues lifetime warranty registration form after installation.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Arrange regular chimney sweeping and inspection after installation. A chimney serving a solid-fuel appliance should be swept as often as the appliance, fuel and level of use require.

However, the chimney should normally be swept at least once each year. Some installations may require more frequent cleaning. Always follow the appliance manufacturer’s instructions and the advice of a qualified chimney professional.

The terracotta pot hanger and external termination should also be checked during routine chimney maintenance. Replace or repair any damaged component before using the appliance again.
