Most CAME ram arms are made in two stroke lengths, 300mm or 500mm. The long stroke versions are used for wider gate, or gate on more substancial posts.
There are geometry examples on the manuals. Call us i you need a copy of the manual
You have the option of 230Vac motors, or 24Vdc motors, and more recently brushless motors. Each type has a different control paneL,
so you must replace like for like for replacement purposes.
Low voltage motors have higher duty cycle suitable for busy multi-user sites.
Low voltage control panels may be fitted with battery backup in case of power failure, and even solar powered chargers.
More recent designs use incremental encoders for safety stall sensing (obstacle detection). If your control panel does not have the encoder facility,
a motor fitted with an encoder will function, but without the safety features. You should never disable the encoder safety feature without making other safety provisions.
You are legally responsible for public safety and protection from any gate you make changes to, unless you are replacing like for like.
Rams can have different methods to stop the motor at each end of travel. Some have in-built limit switches, others have in-built physical stops.
Stops may need re-adjusting with time. Failure to adjust may cause issues with control panels that rely on encoders to monitor position.
It is always recommended to have the gate stop against a post or ground stop. Stick to the recommended geometry,
and always read the installation manual requirements as failure may void the manufacturer's warranty.
