An alarm or fire panel battery spends nearly all of its life on float charge and then has to carry the whole panel through an outage without warning. That is standby service, and it is hard on a battery in a way that cycling is not: the plates sit at a fixed voltage for years, and a battery not built for float will grow soft and fail the first time the panel actually needs it. This one is an AGM standby cell rated for that duty. Most panels calling for a 12V 4Ah or 4.5Ah battery of this case size will take the 5Ah as a direct drop-in with the same footprint and the same F1 terminals.

If your panel supervises battery condition, replace on schedule rather than on failure. Three to five years is a normal service life in float duty, and a panel that trouble-codes at 2 a.m. is usually telling you the battery aged out, not that it was defective.
