Hello again from MusicianAtHeart. Whether you're a beginning or master nut slotter, you know that locating and starting the slot is the key to doing a great job. You can go out and buy slotting files at $15 each and then find out that you have no good way to START the slot. Here is our solution - We use these tools in our own shop in our nut making duties.

1)  The Razor Saw is assembled in our shop with a hardwood handle and very fine tooth pull-stroke razor saw.  A smooth pull-stroke feature is crucial in that it allows you to accurately place the saw in the proper location and give a slight pull to locate the first groove. (Handle style may vary.)

Specs: Our Saw measures 7" in overall length, 5" blade length, .0125" blade thickness, 1.25" deep, 46 teeth per inch, hardwood handle design may vary. 


2)  The Triangular 5 inch long File is used next to open the slot and shape it a bit.  Nicely cornered, so it falls easily into the groove. With a few strokes, you have the perfect v-slot shape that's ready for your nut slotting file.
