The two-acre Lake was created in 1913 by Ed Stimson as he excavated an old marsh in the park

Originally known as the “Picnic Grounds” by early settlers, it became Orange County Park in 1897 when James Irvine donated 160 acres of prime oak and sycamore groves along Santiago Creek
