Selling is a Vintage Original 7 3/8" X 9 7/16" Black & White Double Weight Linen Backed glossy photo with borders of RUTH TAYLOR to promote the film "GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES" from 1928. Also included with this photo is an ORIGINAL AUTOGRAPH CARD (3"x 5"), signed in Red ink "Sincerely Ruth Taylor". I believe this photo was actually taken prior to 1928, as she still has her trademark blonde spit curls, which is the rarest type photograph to find of her. This photo was likely taken between 1925 to 1927.
This photo is very early in the career of RUTH TAYLOR and quite RARE. This particular film is noteworthy in Hollywood history because Ruth's photo was mailed by Hollywood before the film was started but after she was chosen for the role. Her photo is considered to be the largest shipment of pictures of one person ever shipped from Hollywood. It is most rare to find her original autograph. She only played in films from 1925 through 1930. She was only 20 years old in this film and in 1928 she was also a WAMPAS BABY STAR. She would later marry a General in the military, who eventually became a stockbroker.
"The Mack Sennett Bathing Beauty star with trademark blonde spit curls, Ruth was discovered by Sennett in February 1925 when he was looking for a blonde to play in a Harry Langdon comedy. She was chosen from among two hundred girls who auditioned. Taylor was the only true blonde employed by the comedy producer at this time."(as reported by the imdb database).
