Typical TV failure symptoms caused by defective diode are totally dead TV (no standby power going out of the power supply) and specifically shorted D950 measured on the board.

Replacing this diode on the board requires basic soldering skills and equipment. Note diodes have polarity and you must align the replacement so that the leg next to the ring on the diode's body goes in the hole that sides with the single vertical line on the symbol between the two holes or, simply put, keep the ring on the replacement on the same side as the original.
