A one-of-a-kind piece of natural history transformed into ornate gothic artwork.
At the center is a preserved Madagascar Sunset Moth, displayed against rich purple fabric & surrounded by layers of gilded filigree, ornate architectural details, celestial crescents & tiny starbursts. The vivid black, electric green, fiery orange & gold markings of the moth become the centerpiece against the deep violet backdrop in an 8x8 shadow box frame.
The combination of antique gold ornamentation, dramatic color & the black decorative frame gives this piece the feeling of a tiny forgotten relic from an eccentric Victorian curiosity cabinet.
Every element has been carefully selected, arranged & assembled by hand in my studio as part of my 13th Hr. Alchemy collection.

A little natural history, a little gothic finery & a whole lot of unapologetic drama.
