UNO R3 Board:

Mega 2560 Board:
The microcontroller board based on the ATmega2560.It has 54 digital input/output pins (of which 14 can be used as PWM outputs), 16 analog inputs, 4 UARTs (hardware serial ports), a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button.
It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started.
The board is compatible with most shields designed for the Funduino Duemilanove or Diecimila.
The power design:
Microcontroller board has two kinds of Power-supply system, USB provide power directly or depend on external power supply. The choice of power-supply is alternative. If you choose external power supply, you can use AC-to-DC Adapter or Batteries, the voltage range is 6V-12V, but if the voltage smaller than 6V, the voltage of I/O Interface may cannot reach 5V, so it become unstable. And if the voltage is more than 12V, the voltage stabilizer will refer to overheat protection, then it will damage the board.
In this way, the recommended operation voltage is 6.5V-12V, power source is 7.5V or 9V.
