The mounting is done in the style of a tea ceremony scroll.
This is a powerful calligraphic inscription of "longevity" by Abbot Mumon Yamada, with the words "You will live to be 100" next to it...
This is an incredibly auspicious hanging scroll.
There are some stains on the main paper of the calligraphy.
It is in generally good condition.

The name "Shōhō" was bestowed upon him by Tantansai Sōshitsu, the 14th head of the Urasenke school of tea ceremony.

He is famous as a master craftsman who displayed exceptional skill in creating Japanese pottery and Korean imitations.
