New York, March 16 -- Fortune's ninth annual selection of laureates for Junior Achievement's Business Hall of Fame includes Raymond Albert Kroc (born: 1902), who overwhelmed his competitors by turning McDonald's into the world's largest restaurant chain, with annual revenues of $2.8 billion. Born in Oak Park, Illinois, Kroc worked as a professional pianist, a real estate salesman and a milk-shake mixer distributor before buying a chain of hamburger stands from the McDonald brothers in 1961 for $2.7 million.
