This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a Joseph F. Glidden patent, dated November 24, 1874.  This wire is called "Glidden's Two Point Hanging Barb with Blunt Cut Points on One of Two Lines" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 383-B & 1174-B)(Variation - Book listing shows the two types of barbs but not on the same wire).  This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Barbs are two pointed made from a round barbing wire wrapped one and one-half times around one of the line wires.  Both points end up pointing in the ame direction, and all points are cut blunt.  Wire sample shows light pitting.   There are three barbs.  Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered.   There is some bending of barbing wires, but no broken, or missing barbing points.
