Barron (1855-1928) was an American financial journalist, considered the founder of modern financial journalism. He was one of the most influential figures in the history of Dow Jones & Company. At the time of his death, he was both president of Dow Jones and de facto manager of its flagship publication, "The Wall Street Journal". John Ridgely Carter was an American diplomat. He was secretary of the U.S. Embassy in London between 1894 and 1909 and U.S. minister to the Balkan States between 1909 and 1911. Carter left the diplomatic service and joined the Paris office of J.P. Morgan, where he became a partner in 1914.
