Jan Kiepura was an acclaimed Polish-born singer (tenor) and actor. In 1936 he married Hungarian-born lyric soprano
Marta Eggerth (1912-2013) and in 1937, with the rise of Hitler, they fled Europe and emigrated to the United States.
Kiepura appeared  in 23 films of which the best known are: The Song of Night (1932), Ich Liebe Alle Frauen (1935),
The Story of La Boheme (1937), Das Land des Lacheins (1937).
