Installation Guide

Important: This is a mains-powered fluorescent tube designed for use with a compatible T8/G13 fluorescent fitting and ballast. Do not connect it directly to the mains unless the fitting has been specifically converted and approved for direct mains operation.

1. Switch off and isolate the electrical supply to the light fitting before starting work.
2. Allow the existing fluorescent tube to cool completely.
3. Carefully remove the existing tube by rotating it until the pins align with the slots in the G13 lampholders.
4. Check the fitting and lampholders for damage, loose connections or signs of overheating.
5. Check that the fitting is compatible with a 58W, 1500mm T8 G13 tube.
6. If the fitting uses a conventional magnetic ballast and starter, check the starter and replace it if required.
7. Align the two pins at each end of the new OSRAM L 58W/830 with the G13 lampholder slots.
8. Carefully rotate the tube until it is securely locked into position.
9. Restore the electrical supply and switch the light on.
10. If the tube fails to start, flickers or operates incorrectly, switch off the supply and check the starter, ballast, lampholders and tube seating.

For electrical modifications or conversion of an existing fitting, installation should be carried out by a suitably qualified electrician.
