Description:

Following the pioneering works of American Ornithology by Alexander Wilson, Charles Lucian Bonaparte (1803-1857, a noted ornithologist and nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte), while exiling in America, had published a 4 volumes [volume 1 in 1825, volumes 2 & 3 in 1828, finally volume 4 in 1833] treaty on the Birds of United States that were not included in the Wilson’s works. It was quite accurate, well received, and with illustrations by A Riders and engraved by A Lawson.

This plate depicted two species, one is the dark headed Steller’s Jay [mainly distributed in the North America West], and the Lapland Longspurs [which can be seen all over United States].
