Brake Pad
The vehicle’s braking system is a crucial and fundamental component. One of the most common types of braking systems used in most modern cars is a brake disc and caliper assembly. This brake system has many advantages over the brake shoe type system. The most important and frequently serviced part of the disc brake system is the brake pad. Brake pads are made of metal with friction linings on one side. These pads are attached to pistons connected to the brake caliper. Using hydraulic pressure, the force from the brake pedal applied by the driver is transferred to the piston that exerts pressure on the brake pads. This pressure forces the brake pads against the rotating brake disc that moves along with the wheels. This action creates friction between the brake disc and pad surface and eventually causes the wheels to stop.
