Antique Enameled Silver Stiletto / Awl

German * Early 20th Century

The handle of this pretty silver awl tests solid sterling silver and has a steel shank and point. It was most probably made in Germany. It is covered with white enamel and has hand painted roses scattered over the handle. This enamel style, where an engine turned design in the silver shows through the translucent background enamel, is known as guilloche enamel. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or crazing. It measures 4" long.
