Up for auction Gotek floppy emulator with HxC Firmware.

http://hxc2001.free.fr/floppy_drive_emulator/index.html

So, what's that? Jean-Francois Del Nero has reworked his original HxC floppy emulator for not expensive Gotek drives. This firmware is fully compatible with universal HFE format. That means, from the number of supported formats, there is no difference between this updated emulator and original HxC SD Card emulator.

However, that's not so easy to update Gotek drive with HxC bootloader, it requires special environment and the license for the HxC bootloader. That's why I'm selling it. This item is fully and legally updated with HxC bootloader and latest HxC FW for Gotek drives. Having HxC bootloader, you then can update FW on your own by just copying it on a USB stick. Current status of main FW is beta stage, but that doesn't mean it's buggy or works not stable. That means its features can be expanded, more format support added and more options introduced. To the date today I see it as replacement for HxC SD Card version in all of my projects. It also supports external i2c LCD (additional $6 for the HW) where it's required.

Quick Start Guide

Here are quick hints for you how to use the drive. The usage is functionally similar to the original HxC SD Card emulator. It also supports HFE as the main format, so, you should use same process and the software available for download from the author page:

However there is minor difference. There are three modes of the operation: Normal, Autoboot, Indexed. In the Normal mode it will work just as SD Card HxC version but you'll need external LCD and a push button attached. The Autoboot mode is specific to Amiga, Atari and CPC computers.
Finally, Indexed mode is what I advise to use. It doesn't require any external parts. You select the image by original buttons and its number is displayed on the 3-digit screen. You should name the image files in the order by DSKA0000.HFE, DSKA0001.HFE, DSKA0002.HFE, etc.. otherwise they will be not recognized. Read more and download corresponding configuration file from HxC web page: HXCFEUSB_HFE_beta_firmware.zip (ADF+HFE support - Latest beta version) http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/HXCFEUSB_HFE_beta_firmware.zip

The system also supports *.IMG format natively, but in current FW version only for read. You have full write capabilities in HFE format which I advise to use.
Also there are some jumpers on the device that you may need to use. They are clearly marked ID0 and ID1. This select the ID of the floppy drive.

Compatibility List

Virtually, it's similar to HxC SD Card version since the FW derived from there. But I personally verified it the Akai S900, Oberheim DPX1, EMU EMAX-1 samplers and few other machines, works great, no difference to the original HxC SD Card, except it cost 2.5x less.

Any questions, please, let me know.
