She was a best-selling author in both the UK and U.S. from the 1930s through the 1970s. She won the Carnegie Medal for British children's books in 1946 for "The Little White Horse" which was J.K. Rowling's favorite book as a child and one of the few with a direct influence on her Harry Potter books. |
