Museum Quality 1920's ~30's Handmade Kuna Indian Mola Blouse from the San Blas Islands off Panama! . ![]() Made from two large reverse appliqued Molas, that measure 17" X 22" the front has a mirror roosting bird design with star medallion in between! ![]() The back features crouching birds with outstretched wings, and smaller chicks in between. Yoke is early 20th century trade cotton cloth, with gathered neck bound with cotton. The blouse is completely hand stitches, no matching work that I can see. There is an unusual zigzag pattern in the animal figures, and along the seams of the yoke in orange. There is printed trade cloth used in areas of the body design, and this was obviously for personal use, not a tourist piece. Roomy medium to Large in SIZE Measures: 42" Chest~ 23" Length~ VERY GOOD Antique CONDITION!! Usual wear & Aging that you would expect to see on a vintage garment. that was often worn. There are small mends and a couple of small holes in the sleeves. The body is in very good shape having several layers of cotton, the blouse could use a professional cleaning, it is being sold "as is", and has overall age darkening. ![]() |
