Great at last a very cheap small entry level flint/steel to get you started. Can easily and quickly start a fire. It is the most important tool in your survival kit. Suitable for military, hunting, fishing and other outdoor, camping activities, also good for survival tool.Produces a high-heat sparks easily, just ignite with a good dry tinder like cotton wool (Check out youtube for how to use).

Hot tip: There is a protective film over the rod and when used for first fews times use scraper to scrape off some black oxide layer of the magnesium/steel surface. Put the magnesium rod 45 degree to the ground and the scraper blade vertical to the surface, quickly scraping magnesium rod until sparks burning the dropped magnesium turnings. Using this over a ball of cotton wool works best. (Thats why you find tampons inside survival kits) You will find as the outer oxide layer comes off the flint will produce more sparks than when first used. Practice with different tinder material and you will soon improve your technic. A ball of cotton wool is a GREAT TINDER and is very easy to light.

This is very much an emergency/starter flint steel often found in survival kits.
