Endowed with years of Rotels dedicated work in audio technologies, The RHB-10 the result of countless technical experiments and stringent listening tests during development. In the pursuit of genuine musicality, Rotel refused to compromise with the circuit designs and were incredibly exacting in selection of parts so as not to depart in any way from the basic Rotel philosophy of balanced design and no-nonsense operation. The deciding factors behind the sound reproduced by this component were not determined by high-performance measuring instruments or computers but by human ears with heartful sensitivity - the resulting sound is a joy to behold for all music lovers.

The RHB-10 is a beautifully built enormous dual-mono powerhouse with two 1000W low-leakage toroidal power transformers (yes: 2 x 1kW!) working with dual rails: low power is output in Class A, while higher needs switch the circuit to Class B.

Total continuous power output amounts to 2 x 200W (Min. RMS both channels driven into 8 ohms from 20Hz to 20,000Hz) / 2 x 330W (Min. RMS both channels driven into 4 ohms from 20Hz to 20,000Hz) with minimal distortion. Even great levels are available into 2 ohms. Enourmous current capability, on demand, ensures that this amplifier will effectively drive any high performance home loudspeaker system.

The four big caps amount to 88,000uF and the rest of the stringently selected componentry is also top class: 0.01% and 0.1% tolerance Vishay resistors, 6N pure stress-free copper wiring between output stages and WBT speaker terminals, very high grade glassfibre PCBs with double thickness copper tracks and solid copper bus bars for high power handling. The foremost consideration in the selction of each and every component is based upon its effect on sound quality.

Also dual-mono regulations all over separately feeding power-supply, output stages, pre-driver stages, protection realys and indicators separately through filter caps and rectifiers.

The first stage of the pre-driver stages is a fully complementary push-pull differential amplifier, followed by two emitter-follower stages. Thermal and DC drift are dealt with through referenced centre-point voltage.

The output stages make music with Darlington quadruple parallel fully complementary push-pull - symmetrical and mirrored "top,bottom,left and right"; Sanken power devices.

Passive "Straight Wire" Connection

Consider this product as the "preamplifier" for high level input surces without the phono equalisation and gain stages. this no AC power supply. The concept is to provide the optimum quality possible with the least degradation to compact disc players or other high level signal sources. This is achieved by removing all obstacles from the signal path, which adversely affect the performance, whilst retaining the convenience of input level and source selection controls.

Printed Circuit Board

A high grade glassfibre board is employed for the signal path so that there is negligible degredation to sound quality. The board is double-sided, with extra thick high quality copper track on the bottom and copper shielding on the top . The ground planes are specially designed to eliminate interference between input sources.

Attenuator Control

The input level control is actually and attenuator that decreases the volume level as the maximum level available is the function of the output level of the connected source. The attenuator therefore acts as a volume control, controlling the level of signal passed to the power amplifier . As is is directly in the signal path, the quality and accuracy of the attenuator, is critical to overall performance. Rotel have employed a very high quality component utilising an extraordinary conductive plastic material with minimum resistance variation. Mechanically it is a 4 gang device which handles both right and left channels efficiently with very accurate channel balance.

Input and Recording Selectors

High quality rotary switches normally found in high precision industrial instruments were chosen for both the input and recording selectors. High grade materials such as gold plated contacts in the switches ensure negligible influence to the sound quality whilst providing long term reliability and durability.

Input and Output Connectors

Rotels exclusively developed RCA type jacks are incorporated to provide solid connections with the minimum effect upon the sound quality. Extra thick gold plating is used throughout together with durable teflon insulation material. The ground terminal post is also gold plated.

Chassis Construction

Non-magnetic aluminium material is used throughout the chassis construction. Control knobs and buttons are also of solid aluminium. The "red-wine" piano-lacquer finish of the wood side panels give a touch of refinement that is both distinctive and distinguished..
