Hajime Isogai ( October 26, 1871 – April 19, 1947) was an early student of Judo and the second person to be promoted to 10th dan. He was a considered to be a groundwork expert. He was the oldest son of Tsunehisa Isogai, Nobeoka-han vassal
(Sekiguchi ryu Jujutsu), and came to Tokyo in 1891, entering Kodokan in
October of that year.In April of 1893 he was dispatched to the Kansai region by Jigoro Kano
for the purpose of promoting the spread of Judo there, and he took a
position as part-time Judo instructor at the Third Higher School. He
also served as the head of the newly established Kyoto Kodokan, and
became a Judo instructor for the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai in July of 1899.
He became an instructor at the Bujutsu Senmon Gakko in January of 1912,
and at the Budo Senmon Gakko in 1919. His was a history of Judo
instruction and promotion. On December 22, 1923, he was promoted together with Shuichi Nagaoka to become the first living holders of the 10th Dan.
This book is extremely rare. I think the picture was made around 1910 because Hajime Isogai looks very young. This is a very interesting book about the early time of Kodokan Judoand show the beginnings of Judo and techniques developed by Kano, Yamashita, Nagaoka, Isogai in his true nature.
All pages are complete (s. pictures) and without notes or underlines (except the last page has the former owner name) . This book can be
shipped worldwide but must be shipped with tracking number.
