Land Rover Series 1 – 109” Pick Up / Truck cab (1958) Petrol

 Truck cab and canvas hood

This vehicle has lead an easy life – it was used as a fire truck at a local distillery and thereafter lovingly recommissioned / restored over a long period into what you now see.

The chassis is in superb original condition from front to rear.

Mechanically, I am amazed at how quiet, efficient and smooth the engine and gearbox are. I have made several 100+ mile trips without hiccup and it is a pleasure to drive, returning somewhere between 25 – 30 mpg. It has the benefit of free-wheeling hubs too.

The interior has been retrimmed including the seats carpets, headlining added.

The bronze green bodywork is in remarkably good straight condition with the only repairs having been made to small areas of the bulkhead. It was repainted approximately 20 years ago and the paintwork has a lovely deep patina without that ‘just painted’ look. It has a few minor blemishes but nothing significant or that detracts from its overall appearance.

The spare wheel mounts on the bonnet and the cranking handle and jack are all present.

It has a several modifications that can be removed if standard format is preferred:-

Driving, reversing and fog lamps, wood lining to truck bed and dash area, lined cab, seat belts, stereo etc. The chequered plates in the cab can simply be lifted out as the original floors are all present.

It is tax and MoT exempt. The last MoT expired last year and due to lack of use, has not been remot’d. I can have it MoT’d for the new buyer if required.

In regard to getting it home, I personally would be confident in driving it anywhere. It is located in Fife, 30 minutes from the Forth Bridge.

As a caveat, please note that this is a 56 year old vehicle so is not something that has just rolled of the production line. It is also however, not something that has been tarted up for a quick sale. I am selling simply due to lack of use and the fact that I do not want to damage or abuse something that is probably more suited to being in a motor museum or in someone’s private collection for marketing purposes or taking to shows etc. I also have a Series 3 that I fill with my dogs, children, logs, fishing gear etc and don’t mind getting it dirty. This one is far too good for that.

I’m in no rush to sell and would invite all interested parties to inspect before bidding. I have nothing to hide but your opinion of the vehicle’s condition may differ from mine.

I am happy of course to answer any queries.
