Antique Partabgarh Gold Inlaid Glass Ring India late19th Century
Being offered is a vintage antique gold and silver Theva work ring from Rajasthan in Northern India. The front of this ring has a beautifully detailed floral design made from 22 karat gold that is inlaid into green colored glass. This gold in then engraved further to embellish the decorations. The Theva work is an amazing feat of Indian master craftsmanship. The method to create this piece is a skillful process, that even today, is a closely guarded secret known only by handful of Indian families. The remainder of the ring is typically done in vermeil (silver with a gold finish). A wonderful exotic look on the hand!
The approximate ring size is about 8 - 8 1/2.
Please review all the photographs for more details!
Condition: Ring is in great vintage condition. With only a little even wear to the vermeil finish. There is only one tiny piece of gold inlaid that has broken free from the setting. This is located on top of the flower at the one o'clock position in the first photograph. (seen as a grey spot in the photo). Not noticeable to the naked eye, but under magnification, you will see that it is missing.
