Installation Notes: 
+ The solid flywheel has a pocketed feature in the center allowing room for the torsion spring centered clutch discs.  Despite what the spring center indicates, the raised hub inserts into the pocket on the flywheel side. 
+ The starter ring gear has a stepped feature which fits between the flywheel and clutch pressure plate.  The flat side face mounts to the flywheel and the stepped register serves to hold the clutch pressure plate cover concentric.


Features & Expectations:
+ The intentions of the double mass flywheel serve to reduce harmonics, sound and judder.
+ The use of this flywheel set significantly reduces the weight (~8.62kg /19lbs) and rotational mass on the drivetrain.  This significantly affects the performance and handling.
+ The engine will rev quicker and build RPM faster for better response and acceleration.  An adjustment to your driving style is needed when taking off from a standing start.  With most clubsport style clutches featuring organic facings and spring torsion hub centers, it is possible to start off in second gear slowly feathering the clutch.  
+ Increased sound and rattling will be evident at low speeds and while at rest idling.  This rattling is not damaging or unbearable but definitely evident.  Slight pressure on the gear shift lever or clutch pedal will suppress the noise.  
+ (1990-1995) 964 & 993 Models originally equipped with the double mass flywheel typically require electronic or idle adjustment to compensate for the quicker decel of the engine.  Such models with higher miles may also have increased idle stabilization problems which can also be complicated with vacuum system leaks.  The Digital Motor Electronics (Bosch Motronic) as found in (1984-1995 OBD I) feature an EPROM chip that can be retrofitted with a tuned version adjusting for the lightened flywheel (map decel values) and other engine updates.*  (1996- OBD II) Models are self correcting and updates are not required.
