Now here is a quality piece of 70's BL hardware!

The car was owned by Porthleven Garage (near Penzance, Cornwall) for the first 6 months of its life, then bought by a husband and wife who have owned it from November 1978 until now (the husband passed away a few years ago and the wife decided that at 98 years old it was time to hang up her driving gloves!).

The recorded mileage is 48500, which is , I am assured is genuine. There is quite a lot of paperwork but not a full service history. There is the original hand book and some other papers still in the 'Taylors of Falmouth' black plastic wallet.

MOT until 29th MAY 2013.

The car has apparently been garaged all its life, chamoised down if wet, and has always had seat covers on. The result is that the car is in excellent condition considering its age.

The interior is very good, even the genuine BL over mats are hardly worn, there are no cigarette burns, the headlining is smart, the dash wood and plastics are all in nice order. There is the obligatory umbrella on the back shelf.

For in car entertainment you have a radio which works and an 8 track player which I can't check because I don't have any 8 track tapes.

The engine bay is clean and tidy and original. The six cylinder engine pulls well (surprisingly lively it has to be said!).

The car has power steering and the brakes are nice and sharp.

The car had a 'Grundy' stainess steel exhaust fitted in July 1982 and it still sounds alright after 30 years!

The tyres are all Michelin Energy with loads of tread on.

The underside of the car appears very sound, although the rear ends of both sills have been repaired in the past, but are sound enough to have gone through an mot at the end of May this year.

There are a few minor bubbles here and there, but apart from the passenger front wing which looks as if its had some paintwork done in the past, the paintwork looks original. The door bottoms are all sound (they have been painted inside with waxoyl or something of that type.)

The vinyl roof is in good order, with no cuts or shrinkage.

The chome all looks smart, apart from both the wheel arch trims on the passenger side which have been scuffed at some stage.

Overall this is a remarkably good example of this rare car, it could be used as is, or gently improved.

Bearing in mind the car has little use over the past few years, I cannot guarantee it will drive where ever you want it to and never break down, I would recommend you have the car transported if you are a long way away, I have found  http://www.shiply.com/
very useful and reasonable for this purpose in the past, or if you aren't far from me, I can transport it for you, please email your postcode for a quote.

If you require more pictures of specific bits, or want to ask questions or even better, come and look at and drive the car for yourself, please email or call me on 01736 762402.
Please only bid if you intend to follow the purchase though, otherwise it spoils ebay for all involved.

This is a genuine 99p start, no reserve auction, so bid with confidence.

Payment terms are cash or debit card on collection, or I can take debit card payment over the phone or bank transfer if you want the car transported.  (no credit cards.)

Either way, contact is to be made within 24 hours of auction end and full payment within 2 weeks. I can store the car free of charge for up to six weeks as long as it is paid for.

good luck,

Mike.
