The Opera Consonance Reference 2.2 Linear CD Player featuring valve output stage, linear technology, with non-oversampling and a filterless DAC is one of the most popular Opera CD players, available in a choice of finishes, with either metal or wood top. This player has proved to be one of Opera's top sellers over the past few years, putting more expensive and so-called high technology players to shame. The sheer musicality that flows from this player has to be heard to be believed, and has to be placed at the top of anybody's wish list.

Due to the filterless, high quality DAC and linear technology, it has such a smooth sound that it's a "CD player for those who don't like CDs" (i.e. the harshness or "cold" sound that many CD players offer), so is especially recommended for analogue lovers too!

Non-Oversampling:
The appeal of non-overampling DACs lies in the less is more audio ideal, the fewer components there are in the
signal path the more of the signal should get through. The NOS DAC was conceived by Ryohei Kusunoki in 1996. He wanted to find a way of avoiding time smear in digital audio and, therefore, considered the digital filter to be the biggest cause of this problem. As it's the digital filter that does the over oversampling, he built a DAC that did away it altogether and used an analogue filter after the DAC.
