When I am shooting I see the image long before I pick up the camera. The camera is nothing more than a tool that lets me show others how I see things. This frozen moment in time allows the artist and viewer to see through the same eyes. I hope seeing through my eyes helps you to see your world in new ways.

 THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTO

I knew the exact spot I wanted to photograph at. It was a long hike through the woods. There was a heavy forest canopy overhead that the sun would shine through like a spotlight. I was walking swiftly not paying much attention to the area around me. I happened to glance to my left and saw this spotlight of sun lighting these orange leaves with a contrasting background of green leaves and blue sky. I shot this with a very shallow depth of field to allow the leaves to pop off the out of focus background. How does that saying go? "It's not the destination it's the journey"
