History

In 1967 this gorgeous little Porsche was delivered brand new to sunny California USA  and lived there for 31 years, approximately 14 years ago it was imported to the UK and always garaged, it has covered 117k miles in total which is not very much for a 45 year old car. I have a huge history folder covering the last 14 years and every mot and every invoice to document the care and attention this car has gotten.   Its hard not to get a visual of the typical Porsche cool 60’s era of Steve McQueen or Paul Newman cruising the boulevards of California in a Porsche just like this one!  All matching numbers also! Its currently southern Irish reg but was previously a UK registered car, so you can change it back to UK reg with no fee to pay, you just have to fill in a form at the DVLA.

Mechanical

Mechanically this baby is 110% it drives like a dream and has had a fortune spent on it. Its had an engine rebuild 7k miles ago to include new pistons and barrels, new bearings and valves, new clutch. New fuel pump and new oversize crankcase, bell crank lever bushes, new exhaust system  etc etc etc. Needless to say the engine is now perfect and sounds amazing with the carbs sucking and combined with the healthy roar of the new exhaust.  Engine rebuild invoice here from Mannion hall motor engineers for £3k and also it was converted to unleaded. The gearbox is a delight to use and is smoothe and I find it  much nicer to use than the later 901 gearboxes.

Once driving this machine you very quickly are surprised at how powerful it is for a 4 cylinder, and also the steering is very tight and responsive with all new CV joints. These cars are really ahead of their time as far as drivability, you really can use these Porsches as a daily driver. There is lots of invoices in the history folder showing that this car has been looked after mechanically .  All the electrics work fine too, indicators and brake lights etc.

Interior,

The interior is all original and looks excellent and is showing a nice patina, Carpets look like they where renewed not long ago as they are very clean. Door panels are all intact and original and have all their parts still working. Speedo and revcounter work as they should, and also the fuel and oil gauge work. What sets the 60’s mood inside it is the ultra rare and valuable nardi wood rim steering wheel, which I just love, and also matched to the vintage wooden Porsche gear knob. The original radio is missing but the original slot has not been messed with so you can source a replacement one and slot it back in. Driving on the left is so cool and really ads to the cool factor of a classic Porsche!

Body,

Painted in Porsches iconic Irish green you just have to love this colour! No other car on the road is Irish green, so its another little unique point to the car. The paint is good but not perfect, it has the odd wee bump and scratch but its very presentable and looks great, its just showing a nice patina and looks like a car that was painted some years ago. The paint will be presentable for many years to come just as it is, unless your looking for a trailer queen. This car you wont be afraid to take out and use.  Floor pan has a little bit of rust but nothing that cant be easily sorted, Door shuts and other common corrosion areas are solid, the California climate has been kind.

Overview.

The short wheel base 911 or 912 is one of the rarest models from Porsche, they are beautiful to look at and its lovely to see that these are really the first production version of the Famous Porsche 911, these are the ones that started it all. This particular little car is absolutely gorgeous and it gets more attention, thumbs up and smiles that any Porsche I have EVER had in my life.  Values of these Early SWB cars are increasing very fast, in the last 18 months it is clear to see this if you have been watching the market place. That’s why this little car presents so much value for money and it is a true bargain.
