Frequently Asked Questions :-. from previous listings

Q:      hi mate can you supply the damper ring that bolts to prop as well as the doughnut. regards alan     23-Nov-07
A:      The 'harmonic damper', as fitted close to the jurid coupling, is currently NOT available. With age the rubber in this flywheel breaks down and the steel outer ring becomes un-stable.    This causes vibrations and sometimes a knocking or rattle. Our advice is to remove the faulty damper and run the propshaft without it.

Q:      Hi, I have seen your name mentioned on the Renault forums. I have an RX4 and have been told the bearing has gone and i need to buy a whole new propshaft for about £700!! I understand you have devised a way of making these serviceable. Can you email me details and a price please. Many thanks Terry.     22-Nov-07
A:      Terry, We offer a full propshaft rebuild service for £375+vat inc collection & delivery (total £450) This involves the replacement of the centre section of the propshaft, new universal joints, new centre bearings, new rubber coupling, balancing etc. The shaft is then able to be dis-assembled by any competent workshop to change the c/bearings should the need arise again in a further 80,000 miles. The UJ's we use are circlip replaceable and have grease nipples for lubrication service. Approx 3 day return service, 12 months unlimited warranty. yours, John Mac  tel. 024 76 683239

Q:     I have an 2003 RX4 Diesel with 90k on the clock!! Are you my saviour from "Rip off Renault parts" I have just driven back from Crete and on the way the car developed a judder/chatter when under load and a ring like a bell when going over bumps. Upon inspection I found that two rubber components, one at the end of the propshaft and the other in front of the viscous coupling had become delaminated (kn*****d). Will your product solve the problem? If so please reply with the cost and procedure.   Cheers Mike Pilbeam 01-Aug-08
A:     Mike, The loose parts are steel flywheels on rubber mountings (called harmonic dampers) these were designed to adsorb unbalanced forces in the drive train. With age they become loose on their rubber mountings and become more a bob-weight, rather than a flywheel. Our new Jurid rubber coupling (doughnut) sits between the propshaft and the diff. Our heavy duty motorsport version runs fine without the need for the dampers. We recommend the removal of any worn dampers, fitting our new jurid rubber and all will be quiet and smooth again. yours. John
