THREE 4x6 PHOTOCARDS
AIRBORNE BEER

Here are two 4x6 photocards (not post cards) of Airborne Beer labels, plus one of paratrooper Vincent Speranza (1925 - 2023) with Airborne beer bottles.  These can be framed, or used to create your own beer labels, if you bottle your own beer.  Here is the label story:

Private First Class Vince Speranza served in the U.S. Army during World War II, with Company H, 3rd Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. He landed in Scotland, later moving to England, Belgium and finally France, where his unit would fight in the Battle of the Bulge.

During the siege, he visited a wounded comrade at a field hospital set up in a local church, where many of the wounded men wanted water.  Speranza searched through the ruins of the town and found a working beer tap, but had no way of delivering the beverage, so he filled his helmet and returned the beverage to the men.  When he returned for a second load, he was discovered by a medical officer and reprimanded.

Because of that legendary beer run, a brewery in Bastogne (Brasserie Lamborelle) created "Airborne Beer" that was served in helmet-shaped ceramic bowls to commemorate the paratrooper’s beer-carrying mission, featuring a caricature/cartoon of Speranza on the label.
